The Oregon Chapter of USLA recently held their 2007 Hall of Fame induction event in Beaverton, Oregon on November 3rd. Eight new members were inducted and four previous inductees were honored in the first ever formal reception for the Oregon Chapter Hall of Fame. The 2002 inductees included Fred Zensen, Kris VanHatcher, Mark Flood and Jim Hammon. The 2007 inductees included three women, Holly Allen Ziegler, Hilary Gilmore and Andrea Schatz and six men, Sam Sadtler, Bill Lake, Thomas Foster, Curt Sheinin, and Brian Platz. Presenting the awards were the Oregon Chapter president, Terry Vance and a star player from the Portland Lumberjax professional indoor lacrosse team, Ryan Powell. In attendance were not only the families and friends of award recipients but also many current high school players there to support their coaches. It was an inspirational event for the Oregon lacrosse community. The recipients of the awards represented virtually all contributions to the game of lacrosse including all star playing careers in high school and college, officiating, umpiring, coaching and development of the program and love of the game here in the Pacific Northwest region. This event was both a symbolic and literal indication that lacrosse has become an integral part of the Pacific Northwest sports scene. |
